LinkedIn Live has been around for a few years, yet many business owners still don’t know how to join one. I’m frequently asked: “Is there a link to click like Zoom?”
If that’s you – you’re not alone.
But before we get into the how, let’s talk about the why.
Why LinkedIn Live Is Worth Your Attention
According to LinkedIn, live videos get on average 7 times more reactions and 24 times more comments than native video produced by the same broadcasters.
How to Join a LinkedIn Live
Check who the host is. At the set time, go to their profile (desktop or mobile) and you’ll see them going live in their cover banner at the top of their profile. Sometimes they use a countdown before they get started. As a viewer, you can turn subtitles on or off.
Before You Host a LinkedIn Live
Remember: content alone won’t fix a broken strategy.
To make LinkedIn work for you, you need:
- A LinkedIn profile positioning you as the obvious solution for your target audience
- A repeatable method to grow it
- A connection strategy to convert them into paying clients
Without these three, it all falls apart.
LinkedIn Live should support your lead generation and client acquisition — not become another thing that drains you.
Your LinkedIn Live Checklist
✅ Check your settings to see if you have access to a broadcast tool
✅ Choose your broadcast tool (I’m a fan of StreamYard)
✅ Sign up for a trial and explore
✅ Upgrade for brand positioning if you’re serious about hosting
If you’re just guesting, the free version is fine.
If you’re hosting regularly, branded broadcasts strengthen your authority and visibility.

Set Up Your Studio
You don’t need perfection. You need clarity and professionalism.
✅ Invest in the best webcam and microphone possible
✅ Make sure your face is well lit
✅ Reduce background noise and distractions
✅ Use the best network connection possible
You want to look like the authority you already are behind the scenes.
Prepare for Broadcast
Those leads won’t magically generate themselves.
✅ Schedule broadcast date and time
✅ Outline your topic and key points
✅ Decide if you will do Q&A
✅ Send login details to guests
✅ Share a rough outline with guests
✅ Create short URLs for resources
✅ (Optional) Prepare simple slides
✅ (Optional) Prepare on-screen banners
Promote the Broadcast
✅ Set up a LinkedIn Event Page
✅ Craft a strong first line in your posts
✅ Post one day before
✅ Post one hour before
✅ Notify your email list
Think beyond your feed. Use the event to nurture conversations in the DMs.
Just Before You Go Live
✅ Dress to impress
✅ Have water nearby
✅ Log in at least 15 minutes early
✅ Shut down background apps and distractions
✅ Double-check audio, video, and lighting
✅ Check banners for typos
Confidence comes from preparation.
During the Broadcast
During your Live:
✅ Ask people to introduce themselves
✅ Remind people to ask questions
✅ Keep your energy up
✅ Be real and don’t be afraid of mistakes
✅ Remind people of your next event
✅ Finish on time (or early)
After the Broadcast (This Is Where Leads Happen)
Trying to rely entirely on inbound leads from your content is just as unpredictable as waiting for word-of-mouth referrals to magically come to you.
✅ Thank attendees who commented
✅ Respond to all questions
✅ Make notes for improvement
✅ Send guests the recording
✅ Email the replay to your list
✅ DM attendees and continue the conversation
Be proactive. That’s how you convert visibility into paying clients.

LinkedIn Live is powerful. But only when it’s part of a simple repeatable process.
If LinkedIn currently feels messy…
If you’re wasting time posting without converting…
If you’re relying on unpredictable word of mouth…
Then Live alone won’t fix it.
BIO
Hi, I’m Jen — The LinkedIn Lead Jen 😉
I’m the LinkedIn strategist and mentor for driven midlife women in business who are ready to move beyond unpredictable word of mouth and marketing that feels messy, draining, or simply not worth the effort.
I help you generate five qualified leads a week from LinkedIn in as little as 30 minutes a day — using a simple, repeatable process that works with your personality, energy, and strengths.
Because making LinkedIn work isn’t about posting more or trying to be louder than everyone else.
You need three things:
- A profile that positions you as the obvious solution
- A repeatable method to grow your audience strategically
- A connection strategy that converts into real clients
If you’re missing any of these on LinkedIn, everything falls apart.
Since 2017, I’ve supported +700 of midlife women to stop forcing tactics that don’t suit them, show up as the authority they already are, and attract warm leads through genuine connection — not icky cold outreach or performative marketing.
My signature PACT® Blueprint gives you the structure and clarity to make LinkedIn work sustainably:
✨ PRESENCE — Position your profile to attract the right clients
✨ ACTION — Know who to connect with and when
✨ CONNECT — Build real relationships that lead to opportunities
✨ TRACK — Stay consistent without overwhelm
You’ve already done the work to become brilliant at what you do. Now it’s time for your LinkedIn to reflect that and bring the right people to you.
