My Super Connector Meets Tracey Livingston

1. Tell me a bit about your business – when it started and what are your main services?

I’m a globally recognized certified coach, reiki master, speaker, and TV/Film personality, who provides 1:1 coaching services for serious high-achievers ready to sprint into their highest potential. This is NOT for everyone. It’s for entrepreneurs, change makers and visionaries looking to make serious income & impact in their zone of genius.

I founded TraceyLiv Ltd in 2017, and provide bespoke, 1:1 coaching and energywork experiences for global and diverse clients seeking more depth in their personal and professional lives.

2. What was the main driver for starting your own business?

Well, I quit my 9-5 job as a Manger at a global International company in Washington, DC to move to London and be with my now husband! As an American in London, not legally allowed to work, I did a lot of reading and writing asking the question, but what do I really want to do?

I got connected to Empower World, a Coaching & Leadership company in Qatar, and eventually flew to Qatar 3 times to do my ICF certified Coach Training and Mentoring requirements.

Very quickly I realized that my life’s work is to support people to connect to their truth, make empowering choices, decide to live a more aligned & fulfilling life, and then help them get there. Which is why my signature style is integrating coaching and energywork, distance healing and spiritual principles to each client session.

3. What gets you up in the morning?

Genuine excitement for who I’ll be speaking with, coaching, connecting, and hearing from that day. It starts with snuggling my amazing husband, and then moves into my client’s lives, prospective client calls (my favorite things to do!) and sending guinea pig photos to my sisters who live in the states.

4. If you could change one thing about your first year in business, what would it be?

I’m in my first year of business 😊 Hmm, change…I’m going to go Neil DeGrasse Tyson on this question and say that I wouldn’t change anything. The act of experiencing the first year of business is the lesson in itself. The act of going through the uncertainty is the lesson. Trying to circumvent the lessons wouldn’t craft our characters the way they’re meant to be.

5. What is your biggest achievement to date?

Darn, so many ideas are flying into my head. Biggest achievement in business would be giving a middle finger to conventional coaching practices and being steadfast at integrating energywork, distance healing, spirituality and the soul into my business. Many people talk to me about ‘mindset’ – well, often times our minds need reprogramming. And what has all the real strength? Our soul. So, my biggest achievement to date is bringing the Soul into every aspect of my biz.

6. What has been your biggest challenge?

UNCERTAINTY. Uncertainty about clients, money, the future, the outcome. Humans are wired to want things that are predictable, steady and we tend to always want the best possible outcomes to happen.

Uncertainty also can bring out the shadow side of ourselves out. Caroline Myss is one of my heros and she does some great videos on the Shadow.

7. What would be your number one tip for other entrepreneurs who want to develop their personal brand (related to their industry / specialism)?

Go with your gut instinct. And take your time staying ‘WIDE’ before going deep. My answer in Question 5 talks all about this. I ‘niched’ down as a Relationship Coach when I started because I felt I had to. And it very quickly dissolved because my inner truth really wanted to work with people across topic areas.

8. What advice would you give to other women thinking of starting their own business?

There are two sides to business: being skilled at your craft, and running a business. You’ve got to skilled in the service or product you’re delivering (skilled, not perfect). And, you’ve got to know how to pitch your product, do the admin work, get visible and bring in revenue.

If you’re not earning money, you have an expensive hobby, not a business. Hire a coach, get a mentor, and have someone who can support you get your business off the ground. I’ve seen people waste thousands of dollars on more training, attending Tony Robbins, buying online courses, yet if they just hired a coach or mentor for setting goals, help with their blind spots, and confidence to keep the momentum going, they would have actually gotten an ROI.

9. Lastly, which social media platform has helped you get the most customers to date and why?

Facebook, simply because there are great ways to do Facebook Lives, post/comment in communities, and have more of a dynamic visible structure. Personally though? 80% of my clients have met me in person or on referral.
